Your hair is the color of tomato soup!

Ever since a few years when I told Tristan I was pregnant a few years ago (and then a month later, the joke was on me-Surprise!) I've kept April fools day pretty low key. This year my Family Fun happen to come on the last day of March and I had two hours to read it while the kids played at Blast Off.

They had a lot of really cute ideas. The first thing I did was put food coloring in the bottom on their cereal bowls, then when they added milk=Ta-da. Coloful milk!
Here is B-semi-amused. C-who hates being laughed at in any way, said, "I hate this day!" when he discovered his colored milk. It's really hard to have a kid who is ultra-sensitive in this way. Especially when he says funny things! They thought it was much more fun to make a tricky dinner for daddy. Here is his dinner of "fish sticks, ketchup, and peas." The fish sticks were sugar wafers covered with Peanut Butter, then dipped in crushed cereal. These were actually really tasty. The peas are Airheads, and the ketchup was jam. And of course, who doesn't want a worm sticking out of their apple.
When you opened the chips, you actually got carrots! Ha Ha

And of course, the orange juice was jell-0. Hope you had a great April Fools Day. I know I did because April is the best month of the year. (At least the second half!)

  1. You are so creative. I always think I should do something for April Fool's Day, but I never have. Thanks for the ideas, maybe I'll use them next year.

  2. We didn't do anything for April Fool's. When we were little my mom put strings in our pancakes once. And then another time we were at my aunts house and she put strings in muffins and my older sister ate the string without noticing. Haha...it gave us a good laugh.

  4. I didn't get my family fun until today April 2 what good is that gonna do. They were great ideas. What did daddy think of it? Was he a good sport?

  6. Dad was a little tipped off because he usually doesn't have kids jumping up and down when he gets home, trying to get him to eat dinner. But he was a very good sport and gave the kids the reaction they wanted. He was just glad I didn't make anything with tuna in it. He has utter hatred for tuna.

  7. What fun! All that went down in this house (well, besides the, "Mom, there's a spider crawling on you" every other minute) was a rubberband on the sprayer at the sink. I got Avery with that and she ended up in tears until I let her spray me. Then we tried again to get Dad. He totally didn't see it but when Avery asked for water it was at an angle. When Ryan turned it on it sprayed Avery. Again. More tears. Not funny.

  8. I thought it was very creative that you used Airheads to make the peas. I was wondering where I could find some of the veggie looking candy and gave up. BRILLIANT!!!

  9. Clever! Did Tristan eat his meal? Did he suspect?

I had an older sister that would roll her mint gum into pea size pieces and put them on her plate with her peas...I was grossed out, afraid that she was going to take a bite of gum AND peas. I don't think she realized how well she was tormenting me. To this day, I can't eat peas and gum disgusts me.

Sorry...I am the queen of tangents!
