First day of school and new chore chart system

Well, summer seemed fast in a way and dragged on forever in a way. I was kind of sad to see C start Kindergarten, but when time went really fast before he got back, I realized it wasn't such a big deal. Both of my boys didn't even say goodbye when I dropped them off. They were ready for their new adventure.

The second day when I woke C up he said, "Thanks for signing me up for Kindergarten mom." Anytime little sweetie!

T missed them and I end up playing more play dough than I enjoy, but hopefully he will get used to them being gone.

Today, I'm working on a new chore chart. I'm kind of combining this website (Thanks Katie) with an idea from here. The website called Goalforit is a free interactive chore chart that you customize. The kids can click on things as they are completed and it keeps track. They also have a bank where you add points when things are completed and then you make a list of rewards and how many points they cost and the bank deletes.

Sounds confusing, but you should check it out and it makes more sense. Then I'm using the store idea from the Idea Room. I've gathered up treats, toys, etc. that we have been storing for when our kids deserved them (and then I realized they never will!) and put stickers with the cost on each of them. They can use their points to get something out of here or things like TV time, Jamba Juice etc. I also put consquences in their bank, and I will take away points for things like lying, not obeying, etc. I will let you know how it works out.
I think I will print out their weekly charts so we aren't constantly having to update on the computer and then on Sundays we will get on and fill it out.

Around here

C sat in her outdoor swing for the first time. She was more interested in sucking on the strap that anything else. I learned how to make ribbon flower hairbows.C enjoys sucking on polar bears but not binkies or bottles. Does this picture remind anyone else of Sharon's baby pictures?C is having a rare day nap in her bouncer. Lately she thinks life is too exciting to miss out by sleeping in the day! Oh well. she is mostly sleeping through the night so I can't complain too much. Anyway, thanks to the baby swing I did get time to make a few headbands too. The first person to write a comment with their headband size (just take a tape measure and measure around where you want your headband to sit--don't worry I come from a big headed family your measurement won't shock me!) and is someone that I don't have to mail this too (sorry I barely grocery shop and I definetly don't go to the post office!) will win a headband.

Christmas in August..

I got my Christmas/Mother's Day/Birthday present today. We got a keyboard from Chesbros. I'm so excited to check out all of the features. And now B can start piano lessons in September.

And I had no idea I was married to such a handsome little Mozart!

I finally had a (semi) original thought..

I have always liked making things and being creative. However, someone else has to come up with the idea. And then I copy them. Anyway, I had completed two projects that I copied from blogs. One was a fabric-scrap necklace and one was the flower clips I made for the girl C and me. Then I wondered how they would look combined and this is what I came up with.I thought they turned out pretty cute.If you want to make them these links have fabulous and easy-to-follow tutorials to follow. With the flower clips I made mine I a little bit easier. I just took apart dollar-store flowers and threw away all of the plastic and centers. Then I stuck a brad or eyelet threw the holes. Someone even told me how to stick them to clips without glue. You just stick your brads through the flower and then through clips like these. No glue required.
Mostly, I did this post so I could have a link that I could go tell the awesome people who made the original tutorials that someone appreciates them!
La Tisha-do you think people would want to make these for Super Saturday? Not that they are hard to figure out from reading the blogs, but if enough people are interested I could be in charge of these for Super-Saturday.

And we've been...

This is a continuation of the previous post. Does anyone have any tips for uploading pictures faster? Holy crap I've been trying to upload pictures for about 14 hours now. No wonder I haven't blogged in two weeks! I've tried making them Tiff, making them smaller, uploading one at a time etc., etc., and it still takes forever. Any advice?
Has anyone tried to upload them to a photo site like snapfish or something and then using the URL instead of off of your computer?
Anyway we've been... having more fun picking huckleberries. And making huckleberry pancakes, and looking forward to shakes and jam. Yum!Eating so much ice cream at Grandma's ice cream social that one of us threw up in front of everyone. We won't name names. And playing in lakes with friends.
Now, I have to pay for having fun and trying to post about having fun that I have to go tackle our mountain of laundry.

Lately we've been...

Putting the girl in boy clothes to compare pictures. She looks kind of similar to B, don't ya think?Making ice men to race during FHE-
But mostly to eat.Making flower clips for the girl C and to give away.Getting our faces painted down by the river.
Going huckleberry pickin. I went with a friend when I was a kid, and I always wanted to do it again.

T had a very important job-to be in charge of the fruit roll-ups. He took it very seriously.
