Lessons from Hawaiian Haystacks

Is everyone going to be happy when I have a husband to talk you and you don't get to hear every thought that comes into my head?

So, I learned a tip from my friend Krista's private blog that I tried last night. It worked so good that I had to share. I even took a picture but I'm a little tired this morning and did something funky to my camera and lost it.

You just take your boiled or crock-potted chicken and stick in your mixer. I turned mine on and came back in a couple of minutes to perfectly shredded chicken. No more burning your hands off trying to shred chicken. Brilliant.

Another thing I learned is that couponing might ruin my taste for generics. I got a few Campbells cream soups using a Walgreen deal and used that last night for my Hawaaiin Haystacks. It tasted so much creamier and yummier than my generic brands I've been using my whole marriage. I might not ever be satisfied with another cream soup. Let me know if there is ever a sale on Campbells!
Oh yeah, today's RedBox code is MMM325.

  1. Yay, Julie! I am glad your shredded chicken worked. It is seriously one of the best secrets I've learned. I love Hawaiin Haystacks...that is what we are having tonight! Too funny!

  2. I made Hawaiian Haystacks last week too. I use the Win-Co brand of Cream of Chicken Soup. I bet if I switched, I'd have to go back to Campbell's.

I usually answer questions on my blog, in my comment section for the post that they asked. I don't know if people read it, but that's what I do.

  3. I really like Campbell's cream soups, they are so much better than generic. But, I still use generic. Thanks for the chicken shredding tip! I love it!!!

  4. Hawaiian Haystacks is one meal that my whole family will eat!! We have it quite a bit. Cambells cream soups are way better, and when they put them on a good sale you can get them for 50 cents a can which is cheaper than the generic that is like 69 or 79 cents a can and it never goes on sale. One thing that I have to buy is Heinz ketchup....I can't stand generic ketchup. I am fine with pretty much anything else generic.

  5. My mom made that mistake...not always buying generic and even as kids we noticed the difference. When you have something really tasty it is hard to go back to the mediocre. To this day, I still can't eat generic chili or cream of mushroom soup. To me it is worth paying a little more....:D

Please post your hawaiian haystack recipe....remember, I am stunted when it comes to cooking. I appreciate all the recipes I can get!
